Due to the sanctity of Shavuot, this week’s program was pre-recorded.
What happened on Mount Sinai about 3,330 years ago is perhaps the most important event in the history of mankind: the receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai.
The Torah is our infinitely dynamic holy ‘instruction manual’ for life, and we are celebrating this day on which our national treasure was transmitted.
Scholar, musician, and tour guide Gili Houpt explains why Shavuot is an essential day for the Jewish nation, and why we also celebrate the harvest in Israel on this day. Gili also brought his guitar to the studio, and treats us to a special Shavuot-themed song.
Later in the show, Jerusalem-based writer and businesswoman Andrea Simantov has several fascinating observations about the Book of Ruth, especially the bond between Ruth and Naomi. Andrea’s insights will enhance what you already know about this famous megilla which is read in synagogues everywhere on Shavuot.
Best-selling author and international speaker Gila Manolson reveals how conforming to the behavioral guidelines of Torah Judaism in no way suggests that we must look and act exactly the same as each other. Rather, we should express our true personalities in a way that honors our Creator, our people, and our authentic selves.
SPECIAL THANKS TO GILI HOUPT FOR PERFORMING IN-STUDIO ALL OF THE MUSIC ON THIS WEEK’S SHOW.
