Natalie speaks with Chava Stein who made aliyah with her family from Baltimore in August 2025. The moved directly to Ramat Beit Shemesh to be with other Olim from the U.S. Chava shares the hard parts of making Aliyah, even to Ramat Beit Shemesh aka “Little America” and shares that it is NOT America at all, despite what people say. Moving from a big house to an apartment, two big cars to one; and having to learn Hebrew are all adjustments the family has made. While Chava says Ramat Beit Shemesh has enough Olim that her children have made friends easily, learning Hebrew BEFORE moving to Israel would have made things easier, and she advises to invest in your childrens’ ulpan 2-3 years in advance of making aliyah.
